Biography

I've been doing photography off and on for many years, and recently converted to digital and found a new vision. The work on these pages is some of my best, I think, and reflect my various photographic interests. I also have quite a few more images at [link] and am slowly developing a home base website [link]





I take these pictures because I enjoy making photographs. When I find more time I will begin editing and converting my thousands of film based images from my travels around the world, mostly Europe. I did spend time in Southeast Asia, but didn't have a camera at the time, being otherwise busy. The photographs on these pages were all made in central Missouri over the last couple of years.





Sometimes photos jump out at me to be taken. Sometimes after I take them, the computer jumps out and says try this or that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.





If I specialize, it is in portraits of all kinds, people, animals and places. I have found I can usually find a way to bring out the best in my models, though I will admit animals tend to be most difficult and plants the easiest. My human models almost always say they are not photogenic. I hope my photographs show they are wrong. I prefer not to use digital retouching and cropping, but when it is called for I will.
